Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising Residential Care Workers (RCW), Team Leader and other care staff at the site to ensure that all staff are compliant with Company protocols and OFSTED requirements
  • Provide regular supervisions and appraisals for Residential Care Workers (RCW) and other relevant care staff in the team
  • Effectively manage the care staff working in the team and to ensure their work is compliant with Company and OFSTED requirements
  • Assist the Senior Management and Company HR in dealing with any potential concerns, disciplinaries or grievances which may arise from the care staff working in the team
  • Assist the Senior Management in dealing with potential complaints from clients, their families, or the relevant public authorities as required, in full accordance with Company policies
  • Provide a “secure base” for the young people under our care to reduce their anxieties and help them to explore and enjoy the world more; To monitor the progress of their secure base and evidence the emotional progress they have made
  • Act as a key worker for a young person to ensure that the young person’s Care Plans are up-to-date and that all their care needs are being met. To provide positive role model and be able to offer advice guidance and assistance where appropriate
  • Maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of the young people. Working in accordance with the guidelines from the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters and any other relevant legislation
  • Provide emotional and psychological support and help young people with any relationship issues they might be experiencing
  • Provide advice, assistance and support to young people, to attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs
  • Provide emotional support to our young clients at times of difficulties or stress
  • Empower the young people under our care and facilitate their active involvement in the decision-making about their lives and future
  • Encourage the young person to develop links with the community to attend offsite activities and expand their personal social network
  • Provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm
  • Establish positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
  • Act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential
  • Evaluate each client’s individual and person-specific needs and accommodates them accordingly
  • Help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct
  • De-escalate in a professional manner challenging behaviours that may arise from our young clients
  • Provide advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficulties
  • Keep accurate records and providing written reports on the young people under our care, for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager

Requirements

  • You should have a proven track record as a Deputy Manager in a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ graded home and you should be able to demonstrably meet the abilities, values, and skills needed to thrive in this role.
  • You will hold the Level 3 Diploma and working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • You will have a clean UK driving license.
  • You will be resilient, highly organised, thoughtful, and prepared to go above and beyond for our tribe.
  • You will be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the home including some weekends and evenings.
  • Prior experience in social care work supporting young people
  • Prior experience working in a management role in care work
  • Relevant professional qualifications in care work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity for handling stressful environments, meeting tight deadlines and dealing with our young clients’ challenging behaviours

Salary: £32,000.00 – £36,000.00 per year
